The cheapest $.02 micro is a special case and does give variable performance as is documented . In our installations we are using much larger instances and their performance has always been steady and this is in fact guarenteed by their SLA.<br>
<br>In terms of disk IO, amazon definitely has issues. There it is variable and depends on the load from other users. We mostly get around this by stripping all our DB over 8 virtual disks. Amazon has a private Beta where they are working to address this issue.<br>
