<div><br></div><div>The eVrit shows a small box on the screen sayng it is connected to the computer. After I umount the main memory, the card also gets unmounted automatically and a little window on the device says it is refreshing (the book list) and it goes back to where it was.</div>

That often occurs when you don't unmount the filesystem and give it time to flush. The standard "magic incantation" is:<br>
<br>
umount <filesystem><br>
sync<br>
sync<br>
sync<br>
<br>
This has to be done for both the main memory and the memory card, but you can unmount both and then do the sync commands.<br>
<br>
It also pays to check and see if there is an indicator the file system is still in use. The original Kindle has a set of four blocks that flash on and off while there is USB activity. The nook once the unmount is finished goes from a "USB disk" screen back to where it was before you connected the USB port.<br>

The eVrit may have a similar function.<br>
<br>
You can also avoid the problem by using the sync mount option.<br>
