According to http://www.godigital.co.il/ it looks like we really will be making the transition this time to all digital TV on March 30.
This is the perfect opportunity to upgrade our home entertainment system to something from this century.
My plan is to set up a Linux computer in a cabinet with a TV tuner PCI card and a new flat screen monitor. The computer will connect to our home network and access our huge hard drive of other media (the iTunes library, probably using Amarok). I've already experimented with a virtual machine and various shell scripts to create a user-friendly interface for technophobes.
The planned input device will be a remote control USB device, the kind that lecturers often use for slide shows.
So my question is:
Can anybody recommend some good hardware? I need a digital TV PCI tuner card and remote pointer device with mouse capabilities that functions well in Linux.
Thanks
