so a new person should assume 5 "manot". and then again - i'm not sure
if this is the case in all faculties. it also changes from time to time,
as far as i know (i.e. during the previous high-tech recession - 2003 or
2004 or so) - i've heard of a person in a different faculty, who got
less then 5 "manot" in the beginning. i wonder what was the case in CS
at that time.

In other faculties in the Tecnnion the scholarship may depend on working as a TA (this is illegal, to pend scholarship on work, but done by many), or you might not get a scholarship until you submit a research proposal (PhD in Architecture, for example), or you might get a very reduced scholarship until you do so (Biomedicine, I believe).

Another aspect you have not considered, planning for the worst, is that scholarships are time limited. If you are not done by the allotted time, you find yourself without money and without benefits which go with the scholarship (e.g., the right for dorms or an office or kindergarten).

unless you registered very late - in which case sometimes all TA
positions could have been full for the first semester.

when people are making financial preparations - they should plan for the
worst case and make sure they'll be able to get by.
