Hi all,<br>
<br>
As you may remember, I have shut down Lingnu's operation almost
completely, and am now an employee at a company called LiveU. The
good news is that we have open positions (yes, plural) for high
quality Linux developers. At this point in time the focus is on
experienced people, and the company has the funds to give fitting
compensation.<br>
<br>
For those who don't know the company, it produces products for TV
reporters to broadcast live by transferring the video over the
cellular network. The next generation product, announced but not yet
released, is a smaller form factor designed to be used also by
smaller broadcasters, such as direct to web streaming bloggers. The
company's web site is at <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://liveu.tv/">http://liveu.tv/</a>.<br>
<br>
The work environment:<br>
<ul>
<li>Scrum programing. See
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scrum_%28development%29">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scrum_%28development%29</a> for more
details. It is a sub-methodology of Agile. Experience with Scrum
is not a requirement, but willingness to work within the Scrum
rules is.</li>
<li>The development is done in python and C++, with some work in
HTML 5 and Javascript. The Scrum methodology discourages
assigning specific responsibilities to specific people, instead
focusing on one pair solving an entire problem, top to bottom.
The result is that every person on the team may end up touching
any area. As such, experience in as many of those technologies
is a definite advantage. With that in mind, I was hired with
zero experience in Python, and only passing experience in HTML
and Javascript. If you are experienced in OOP and are a rapid
learner, that's really all we're looking for.</li>
<li>And, it goes without saying, the development environment, as
well as the development platform, are both Linux.</li>
<li>Personal time is respected. There is a policy of not asking
people to take work home with them.</li>
<li>The company is very successful, for a startup. It has major TV
stations as clients in just about all continents, including all
of the major TV stations in America. It has a few competitors,
but is the market leader in this field. This means that
financially, this is a stable work place to work for. With
turbulent times not completely behind us, this can be an
important factor.<br>
</li>
</ul>
<p>If you think you are qualified, and are interested, feel free to
send me your CV. You can either send to this email address, or the
same email under the liveu domain. If you cannot figure out what
that means, you are probably not qualified... :-)<br>
</p>
<p>Just so it's clear, this ad is for a full time employee position,
not for a contractor/outsource position.<br>
