Just a few comments - some of them OT.<br>
<br>
1 - I never tried adb - always thought it was overkill to install a<br>
developer's tool just to do a backup, but I may have no choice after I<br>
get the S4.<br>
<br>
2 - Another possible solution would probably be one of the many WiFi<br>
solutions such as AirDroid or an FTP server, but I was really hoping<br>
I'd be able to continue using basic rsync commands to backup my phone.<br>
<br>
3 - I don't know if the above solutions will require root access to<br>
the phone. I don't want to void the warranty so at least at first I<br>
won't be rooting the phone.<br>
<br>
4 - Speaking of rooting, I never understood why this voids the<br>
warranty. I'm not a lawyer but this needs to be challenged in court.<br>
The last time I read a phone warranty I seem to remember that it<br>
referred to the warranty being voided if you install unauthorized<br>
software. But who defines what is unauthorized? Google? There are<br>
tons of apps on Google Play that require root so does that imply that<br>
rooting is allowed?<br>
