<p><font size="2">No.</font> <font size="2">HDDs die</font>. <font
size="2">There are multiple discussions/debates on what is the
best way to keep HDDs for backup purposeless (and if other
mediums are better suitable i.e. magnetic tape). You can
consider an online setup, with the HDD in spin-down or sleep
mode, and preforming an automated </font><font size="2"><font
size="2">periodical file integrity check with a "smart" file
system like ZFS or BTRFS. You can keep the HDDs offline in
ideal conditions, what ever that may be, and check </font></font><font
size="2"><font size="2"><font size="2">periodically with
whatever means.</font><br>
