The Dead Sea, a myriad of stars, and the meaning of home

Dear Friends of Chaim Layeled,

To sit under a myriad of stars on the edge of the Dead Sea can be a enticing experience. For those children in Israel with cystic fibrosis - the Dead Sea provides the air of survival - preventing recurring hospitalizations – for some to extend their lives another few precious months

As Rosh Hashana approaches let us not forget those children who do not take each and every breath of air for granted. Like a flame that cannot glow without air – so they cannot live without oxygen.

On the recommendation of renowned Israeli doctors from the Schneider Children's Medical Center in Petach Tikva and the Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan Chaim Layeled has recently acquired a convalescent lodging on the Dead Sea.

The high mineral content in the air of this unique region allows them to breathe more freely, giving them the opportunity to build up their lungs. After a ten day stay, they can return home without the need to hooked up to breathing equipment for a period of weeks and even months. What a boon for him and his family in his ongoing battle for survival.

What a bastion of relief and hope !!!!

A stay for one person at the Dead Sea costs $125 per day. Here one comes free of charge.

What a fitting opportunity to put up a plaque in memory of a loved one.
