Shavua tov.  I hope everyone had a good summer.
 
A number of people have asked me about the demonstration planned for Sunday (tomorrow) at 4p.m. in front of the iriyah.  The following is an explanation.
 
There is a chiloni school in RBS Aleph which was originally put there when there were more chilonim in RBS Aleph.  It is a school for language and culture and is a very high level, top school.  The school has room for close to 400 students but only around 200 attend.
 
There is a lack of classroom space for Chareidi children in RBS so the decision was made to move the charedi children into the remaining space in that chiloni school.
 
The idea that there is open classroom space and, therefore, will be filled by those who need the space makes a lot of sense.  The problem is lack of process and lack of planning.  Placing charedi children in a chiloni school with chiloni children without proper planning and exploring all options in a proper process is a recipe for disaster.  It is only going to be a matter of time before people are protesting against these chiloni children and yelling at them as they arrive for school.  Similar things will begin to happen as the need for more charedi classroom space becomes solved by placing them in any empty classrooms which might exist in dati leumi schools and the like.
 
Yes, there should be solutions found for all charedi children to have school space.  But, this has to be done with foresight and proper planning and not by increasing tensions and machloket and problems and by essentially forcing others out which will happen over time with these quick fix solutions.
 
So, if you are concerned about these issues in general, our chiloni neighbors have asked us to join them in the demonstration tomorrow (Sunday) at 4p.m. in front of the iriyah.  Please spread the word to people who might be available and would be interested in attending.
