region in which they live while learning about sustainable living practices.

Shemesh Yehuda is a grassroots volunteer environmental network in the Beit
Shemesh & Mateh Yehuda region. We have been promoting sustainability and
environmental awareness, through community projects, education, information
sharing and cooperative projects with the local City/Regional councils, for
almost 2 years. The forum was founded by local residents as a result of the
Partnership 2000 'community building' initiative (12.2007) and has received
support from the Partnership and expert facilitation from Shdamot, the
community leadership centre of Oranim College. Shemesh Yehuda is now in the
process of becoming a registered Amuta (non-profit). Local residents are
encouraged to become part of the Amuta!
