What Petition?
To save "Givaot Beit Shemesh" from destruction through massive, insensitive
building plans that do not take into consideration the landscape, habitats,
archeological treasures and historical significance of this region.

Yesterday, the City openned the "Michraz" to sell land to builders in
RBS-gimmel-1. We must act to save our precious open spaces!

Where are the Givaot?
The region south of RBS-aleph, also known as RBS-Gimmel (1-7) or Beit Natif
- adjoining Tel Yarmouth, Ella Fortres, Lamed Hey Ridge (Israel Trail).

What's on the Petition?
A demand to change the Land Zoning to incorporate a contiguous territory for
a Gan Leumi of 5,000 dunam which will enable the National Parks Authority to
maintain this region as an open, accessible, green space, while still
allowing for reduced construction that is sensitive to the landscape.

What's so special about Givaot Beit Shemesh?
* The largest and last untouched natural habitat in the region
* The region's ONLY migration corridor for animals and birds
* Rare native growth, over 42 bird species, deer and hundreds of other
species that rely on this habitat
* Hiking, biking & running trails that allow locals and visitors to access
one of Israel's last green spaces (that is not a JNF/KKL forest!)
* Magnificent views, hills, valleys
* Archeological treasures dating back to Sefer Yehoshua (tel yarmut) and 2nd
Temple times - including mosaics, mikvaot, cisterns, etc.
* The land that connects Tel Beit Shemesh/Ella Valley/Tel Azeka/Tel Socho/
telling the story of Am Yisrael!
* Massive construction will not only destroy this beautiful landscape, but
the ensuing construction debris and dust will cause severe damage to the
remaining local ecology!

Thanks!
