Make Room in Your Home & Do a Mitzvah at the Same Time!!!

Clothing,

Toys,

Kids Books,

Novels,

Linens,

Small household items,

Small furniture,

Etc!

Guidelines for Gemach-Giving:

1) Don't feel bad to throw out clothing your family has worn and gotten good
use from.

IT'S NOT A WASTE to throw it out if it's:

stained,

bleach-spotted,

torn,

worn out,

stretched out,

washed out,

pilled or

out-of-style.

Rather, it's a waste of the gemach-owner's time and energy when you send
these items.

2) Gemach clothing is cheap and very plentiful. Therefore, customers can
afford to be picky. No one will buy & fix:

broken zippers,

torn shoes,

ripped clothes,

squashed hats,

pants in good condition but with a hole in the knee (no one will patch
these-chuck them!)

etc.

3) No one wants used tzitzis or ripped sefarim. This is an extra bother as
the gemach-owner must now save these items and shlep them to a geniza.
Please don't send this job on to someone else!

4) It is strange but true that many, many people send used socks and
underwear! Not a must-have item!!!

5) If dishes, pots and other housewares are not clearly marked milk or meat,
they can't be used. No one will bother kashering them.

6) Shoes should not be dirty or overly worn out.

7) White shirts must be spotless. Oil stains don't come out. Shirts with
over-ironed, lumpy collars and ripped collars & cuffs are not in demand.

8) Clothes & fitted sheets so old the elastic cracks when you stretch it!

9) Other strange items we have gotten:

single shoes, socks & gloves,

bags of moldy clothes,

used workbooks & school books already written in,

coloring books already colored in,

sticker books without the stickers,

heavy outdated computer manuals,

puzzles and games missing pieces,

dolls missing hair, eyes & limbs,

stuffed animals that are filthy and have stuffing coming out of them,

and many more unmentionables!

10) WHEN IN DOUBT.THROW IT OUT!

Please be selective and make good use of your trash cans before filling up
your gemach bags.

Gemach-owners and volunteers will thank you for your sensitivity!

For donations: please drop off at Sorek 40, right opposite Sifrei Geula
(near Shefa Shuk) inside one of the covered parking lots next to the make-up
store: Yokra Shel Ippur.
