[RBS] News: Port Strike is Over

The port strike is over.  (That was quick!)  As of yesterday, 65 boats were waiting to load or unload at Haifa and Ashdod or were anchored outside of the port.

Late last night, representatives of the Histadrut and the Finance Ministry reached an agreement to end the general strike at Israel's port, that was about to enter its 4th day.
While not final, the agreement appears to grant a 6% raise to "2nd Generation" port employees [employees hired after approval of the Port Reform from 2005] for the next 2 years, similar to other public sector employees.  Unlike public sector employees, port workers will receive an additional 3% on Feb 2011 and Feb 2012.

Both sides agreed to establish a joint staff to discuss the next level of port reform including privatization and issuing of shares in the Port Companies.
