Dear Ramat,

2,000 years ago, Pharoah decreed that every Jewish male born be tossed into
the Nile river, crushing all hope for the Jewish future. Yocheved placed her
3 month old son in a basket and sent him floating down the Nile, praying he
be found by the right hands. Miraculously, the daughter of Pharoah rescued
the boy and raised him in the palace. This child, Moshe, was allowed to
flourish and ultimately fulfill his destiny - leading the Jews from slavery
to freedom.

Rabbi Josh Friedman with prospective students and parents in Kiev

Today thousands of Jewish children in the Former Soviet Union have little
hope for their future. At this month's recruitment seminar in Kiev, I met
dozens of parents desperate to save their children from their dismal lives -
broken homes, poverty, few opportunities and no exposure to Judaism. One
mother reminded me of Yocheved as she begged me to accept her daughter - her
only child - to Lezion B'rina's sister school in Jerusalem, Bat Zion. She
was willing to say goodbye to her child, perhaps forever, knowing that
Israel was the better place for her future.

We often think of miracles as something of the past. These days, you - our
supporters - are the source of miracles happening now in 2012, helping
Lezion B'rina in its mission to save these precious Jewish lives.

Wishing you a Chag Sameach,

Josh
