Rabbi Mendelevitch is a modern-day "Maccabee":

* He struggled to keep Torah and Mitzvos under a regime where this was
strictly forbidden...and served time in the Gulag for doing so.

* He participated in an attempted hijacking by a group of Russian refuseniks
(for which he was imprisoned for over 10 years).

* He was released in the early 1980s and was zocheh to immigrate to Israel!

Rabbi Mendelevitch will be speaking in BTYA's Ulam Shabsai, IN ENGLISH
