[RBS] ELEM - Volunteer opportunities for young adults - Support for at-risk youth

I have spoken with Amatzia as well and was very impressed with him and and
the work they are doing at ELEM. This is another effort, another piece of
the puzzle - that will help improve our community in Beit Shemesh. 



This is a great volunteer opportunity for young adults. Amatzia is
interested in having young adults in their 20's volunteer on their van. He
is looking for people who can commit to going out on the van on a weekly
basis - so the volunteers can build ongoing relationships with the youth -
at - risk, who are out on the streets at the dead of night. 



Please contact me directly if you would like their flyer. It would be great
if one person from each shul could print out a flier and hang it on their
shul's bulletin board. 

 

They really need volunteers so please pass this along to your friends and
neighbors.

ELEM is looking for volunteers to help staff a "Friendship Van" that will
begin operating in Bet Shemesh soon. 

 

ELEM was founded in 1981 by a group of volunteers from Israel and the United
States to help at-risk youth. ELEM’s Friendship Vans operate nightly in 18
cities in Israel, sweeping through public parks, entertainment centers,
abandoned areas and other locations where adolescents hang out. The vans,
which are operated by professionals and volunteers, offer immediate help to
at-risk youth who may be involved with alcohol abuse, drug use or violence
by providing humanitarian aid, informal counseling and referrals to other
social services where appropriate. 

 

The Van will operate every Motzei Shabbat and on Wednesday nights.

ניידת הידידות של עמותת עלם מתחילה לפעול בשעות הערב בזירות קבועות ברחבי העיר,
במטרה לאתר וליצור קשר עם נוער מנותק, ולתווך בינו ובין השירותים בקהילה, לשם
קבלת מענה הולם לפי הצורך. 

 

בשעות הלילה מגיע צוות הניידת אל זירות רלוונטיות כגון גנים ציבוריים, מרכזי
בילוי ומרכזי התכנסות לנוער בהם מבוצעות לא אחת פעילויות שמהוות סיכון לבני
הנוער עצמם,דוגמת: אלימות, צריכה של אלכוהול,שימוש בסמים ועוד. 

 

צוותי הניידת פועלים על מנת לאתר את בני הנוער שונים ,לבנות עימם קשר משמעותי
ולסייע להם במשברי החיים השונים, תיווך למסגרות נורמטיביות ומציאת מענים
למצוקות השונות. בימים אלה אנו מגייסים מתנדבים ופועלים למיסוד הפעילות בעיר. 

 

הניידת תפעל על בסיס שבועי בכל מוצאי שבת ובנוסף בערב יום ד המעוניינים להתנדב
