[RBS] Need netbook/laptop recommendation

The teacher of one of my children has recommended that she use a
laptop/notebook/netbook at school.

I'm looking for recommendations for a simple laptop/notebook/netbook that
will be used almost exclusively with Office applications.

It should be light and cheap and easy to use.

Also, is it better to buy it here, or get it from the States?
