Mortgages up in March despite Passover break
The total of new mortgages granted rose 2.7% in March to NIS 4 billion.
Variable interest mortgages (VIM) totaled NIS 2.96 billion, the rest were
fixed-interest mortgages. 74.1% of total new mortgages were VIM ,up from
73.8% in February.
The average interest rate on Consumer Price Index -linked mortgages
(CPIILM)was 2.16% in March(3.4% on unlinked mortgages ), down from 2.19% in
February(3.3% for unlinked mortgages), and down from 2.76% in March
2012(3.99 for unlinked mortgages ) CPIILM. totaled NIS 2 billion in March,
and had an average term of 20.9 years (unlinked mortgages 19.8 years)
