As many residents know, there is now phone survey goign to , to se which of
two candidates wil run agaisnty Aboutbul in the upcomign elections

The two candidates are Eli Cohen, and Aliza Bloch

Aliza Bloch has been principal of Beit Shemesh's only non-religious high
school, and has received ministry of education prizes for turning the
school completely around, and bringing it from under 300 students most of
whom did not finish their matriculation, to 1,400 students , most of whom
DO finish, many with honours.

Eli Cohen was, until a month ago, a VP of the Mekorot water company. He
worked there for 3 years, until he took his leave in order to campaign
fulltime. Before that, he worked for the Sochnut, his last positions being
in charge of Aliyah And absorption an before tht, beign charge of shelihut
to all Latin American countries.
Earlier, he was the mazkir of the municipal council of Beit Shemesh,
brought Bnei Akiva to the city over 30 years ago (when the local youth
truly had nothing to do, and most of their parents did not know the system
as they were new immigrants themselves) and was a "mefaked pluga" in the
army.

Both candidates have plans to clean up the city, make it safer, and make
teh changes that will make Beit Shemesh financially viable - with a
college, places of work in both industry and the professions, create the
national park that this area deserves, improve access to Beit Shemesh from
the rest of the country, etc.

Both have signed an agreement that the day after the survey results are in,
they will work together to ensure that the entire " educated and/ or
working " camp wins the mayoral and city council elections, and bring this
city back to being a city of good relations between all segments of the
population, and making it a place that our children will want to call their
home.

Before you receive a call from the survey, it is wise to speak to people
who work with Aliza and Eli and hear why they support their candidate, so
that you can make an educated choice.

And in either case, remember that next week, we move on to the most
important issue - working together to make Beit Shemesh a true centre for
all Jews
