Hi,

As a US citizen, I understand the value of large, established political parties.

I strongly feel that the best way to influence society (regardless of what your religious viewpoint is), is from within the single largest political group and current dominating force in Israeli life.

Effie Eitam fought as a captain in the Yom Kippur War on the Syrian front and was awarded the Medal of Distinguished Service. He served as commander of the Golani reconnaissance unit and participated in the raid at Entebbe. In 1987, Eitam was appointed commander of the then recently reconstituted Givati division. Appointed brigadier general at the age of only 42, he served as commander of the IDF in Lebanon and was the last active combat commander against the Hezbollah before the retreat from Lebanon.

Upon entering public life in 2002, Eitam was elected to the 16th Knesset, joined the Mafdal (National Religious Party), and was chosen to be the party leader. Eitam served first as Minister Without Portfolio, and in 2002-2003, served as the Minister of National Infrastructure. He served as Minister of Construction and Housing in 2003-2004.

Prior to the last Knesset election, Eitam led the Ahi faction, which merged into Likud in 2009.

Keti Sheetrit most recently served as Chief of Staff to Minister Gideon Saar in the Ministry of Education. Keti is a long time community activist in Bet Shemesh and has championed causes dear to the Bet Shemesh community on both a national and local level. She holds the 38th spot on the joint Likud Beiteinu Knesset list, giving Bet Shemesh a realistic chance to have a local representative in the Knesset.
