The Likud, the largest non-Charedi party in the city, voted last night
(Sunday) to support Mrs. Aliza Bloch, a religious woman, as their candidate
for the mayoral elections.

This decision was reached after weeks of meetings and deliberations with
every other candidate running for the city.

At the same meeting, candidate Shimon Biton, also a Likud member, announced
that he was dropping out of the race, because Mrs. Bloch is, in his opinion,
a candidate who is very capable of running and uniting the city.

Mrs. Bloch has apparently garnered support from the upper echelons of Bayit
HaYehudi, Yesh Atid, and Mishpacha Achat, also.

That currently gives her a huge advantage over any other candidate, as they
have not yet garnered support from other national parties.

Note that this declaration is only valid until the "survey" results are
final. At that time, the Likud has signed the agreement to support whichever
candidate wins in the survey.

So, at this point, for those candidates who have agreed to support the
survey, the survey is their "primaries," as the winner will go on to face
the incumbent mayor in the elections.
