Night Hike at the Jerusalem Bird Observatory  15/09/2013 22/09/2013

Search for wild animals at night in the center of the city  - owls,
porcupines, bats and much more.  At the Jerusalem Bird Observatory.  For
ages 5 and over. Cost: 25 NIS adults, 20 NIS child; SPNI members 20 NIS
adults, 15 NIS child.

Emek Tzora Awakens  20/09/2013  07:30-12:00

Head out for a morning of birds that includes bird ringing at the resevoirs
of the Tzora Valley. The tibua will focus on kingfishers and wetland birds.
After the ringing, search for storks and raptors that pass over these fields
on migration.

Guided by the staff of the Jerusalem Bird Observatory.   Private cars. Cost:

 Good night Swallow  24/09/2013  16:30-20:00

Hundreds of swallows return, every evening, to the same sleeping places. We
will get into close quarters with this unique phenomina with the ringing
team, after which we will go for a night walk in the Tzor'a vally.  Cost: 50
NIS adults, 40 NIS child; SPNI members 45 NIS adults, 35 NIS child.

Join the ringing team of the JBO at Einot Telem (Nahal Arazim).   After the
ringing session, explore the springs and nearby trails on your own.  Free!

Join the researchers at the JBO as they conduct a bird ringing session.
Learn about the research and about the birds that are passing through the
city on migration and other urban wildlife.

Cost: 15 NIS adults, 10 NIS child.  SPNI members- 10 NIS adults, 5 NIS

The wonder of Migration.  22/9/2013                   24/9/2013  10:00

Explore the wonder of migration at the Jerusalem Bird Observatory.  Learn
how and why birds migrate while searching for birds that are migrating
through the city.  Games and crafts for the whole family..  Cost: 25 NIS
adults, 20 NIS child; SPNI members 20 NIS adults, 15 NIS child.

BUS TRIP:  Migrating birds in the Beit Shean Valley 15.9.13

We will explore the fishponds of the Beit Shean Valley looking for migrating
birds such as storks, shorebirds and more. Bus leaves Jerusalem at 06:00.

Lecture: The Polar Bears of the Far North. 17/9/2013  18:30 Join Amir
Balaban for a report on his latest trip to the Arctic Circle in search of
Polar Bears and other arctic wanderers. Cost: 15 nis  free to JBO members.

 Urban Nature Weekend  20-22/9/2013

The Society for the Protection in Nature in Israel is offering a series of
activities for Urban Nature Weekend for free to the public. These include:

A walk in in the Valley of the Cross;  A walk in Mitzpeh Nafloah;  Bird
ringing in Einot Telem. Guided by the staff of the Jerusalem Bird

  Ongoing ActivitiesArt Exhibitions at the Gail Rubin Galley, JBO - The
Nature of Material

Opening hours:  Sunday-Thursday  09:00-15:00  Not including Erev Hag and Hag

The exhibition Nature of Material presents works done by students of Bezalel
Academy of Arts and Design, Department of Ceramics and Glass..  The project
was done in collaboration between Bezalel and SPNI, and focused on examining
nature at the Jerusalem Bird Observatory.  The project was based on
observing and getting to know the ecosystem and translating the experience
in nature to a ceramic sculpture.  Results of this special meeting lead to
an impressive collection of works to be presented in the Gail Rubin Gallery
and in the open space of the JBO.The project was done within the framework
of the course basics of ceramics led Talia Tukateli and Maya Muchawsky
Parnas (Bezalel) and Amir Balaban (SPNI).

Nature Movie: Urban Nature in Jerusalem   Available upon request. Join us
for a movie of urban wildlife filmed in Jerusalem by wildlife photographer
Amir Balaban.  For all ages.Cost:  10 NIS per
