[RBS] phone service in U.S.

Can anyone make recommendations for cell phone service in the U.S., for
calls in the U.S., to cell phones, land lines and texts in Israel, for
someone who has a Blackberry/Orange service? Is it better/cheaper to sign
up for an Orange plan here or to get a sim card in the airport for a 10 day
trip? Can someone share their experience and knowledge? Thanks.
