<p>I second the recommendation! We, too, were very happy at Gan Barkai.</p>
<p>But I would like to take issue with one detail in Hadassah's e-mail. Gan Barkai is appropriate for people across the spectrum of dati, dati-leumi, chardal, torani, etc. They will accept families from all streams of religious life, and you will find many types there. Children from Barkai continue on to gan iriya, talmud torah, and everything in-between. If you think Gan Barkai might be right for your child don't let labels get in your way. Call them up and decide for yourself! </p>

Three years ago, we were new to Israel and Ramat Beit Shemesh. Neither<br>
my husband nor I understood the gan system, and ended up sending our<br>
boys to a gan that was TOTALLY wrong for them and our family. After two<br>
months of talking with other parents and seeking advice, we finally<br>
decided to pull them out of the gan and place them in Gan Barkai. It was<br>
a decision that has assisted them (and our family) in adapting to<br>
Israeli Israel. Gan Bar Kai is for Anglo families who want their<br>
children exposed to Hebrew and Israeli culture at a young age.<br>
<br>
Gan Barkai is a religious gan that caters to those who define themselves<br>
as "dati", rather than "charedi" or "dati leumi". The gannenets are warm<br>
and give the children (ages 3 and 4) a lot of good attention. The<br>
learning is strong and warm. There is an afternoon program for those who<br>
want or need their children to stay later hours.<br>
<br>
This year is our first year without children in the gan. As I listen to<br>
my children play in Hebrew or practice their letters -- along with the<br>
famous kamatz -- I smile and I know that they received a great<br>
foundation at Gan Barkai.<br>
