I should note that not only Ubuntu can do that, but that most desktop-oriented 
distributions can as well. Linux is not (only) Ubuntu.

Regarding integration with Google services out of the box, that may not be a 
bad thing, because this also means that Google is spying on you, which you may 
not want:
