Now I tried to do as you asked:

[root at localhost ~]# strace -e open
bash: strace: command not found
[root at localhost ~]# open strace -e
open: invalid option -- 'e'
Usage: open [-c vtnumer ] [-l] [-u] [-s] [-v] -- command_line
[root at localhost ~]#
