Wiki software with page access control

Hi,

Any recommendations for decent Wiki software that
- Runs on Linux
- Has decent per-page read/write access control
- Supports embedded LaTeX markup
with a modern interface and well-maintained codebase?

We were planning to use MediaWiki in our research group, but some pages
are work-in-progress or project-management issues that should have
limited read access, and MediaWiki doesn't quite support that:
