The price is expensive. But the HDMI does not the thing that makes it
support movies, but the sotware is !
It arrive with preinstalled ubuntu with custom kernel however, I also
installed on it on my own a newer ubuntu, and it worked out of the box
without any issues what so ever. I was able to play video, listen to
internet radio and I also was able to run on it apache server with custom
based application. It's plain Linux.

First of all you have a support from the manufacture that also provide you
with it's own repository for packages, if you are using the preinstalled
ubuntu that arrives with it
Second, All of it's hardware is supported out of the box in Ubuntu (I did
not test it with other distro), including composite (that require opengl
accelerator using the screen adapter).
So if you decide that you are not looking to use the payed support, you
still have a whole community of Ubuntu and Linux users to help you !
