The problem is that 1224% of the chick reading those emails are complete 
ignorant about technology. IF they don't see the (W) icon on their Outlook, 
they do not know what to do with it. PDF is many time out of the question as 
well, never even tested TXT. 

Moving them out of office into IE? No go.

Also, please note that some companies have technology which automatically 
parses the DOC file. This is harder with your online CV.

The problem is that the first line of defence between you and a potential job, 
are those lame secretaries, and dumb CEOs. In one job I tried to apply, they 
rejected me because I had no Qt4 experience in writing IDEs. Yes, how fucking 
lame.
