Can there be an Ethernet Switch that doesn't work with Linux???

I suppose YMMV, but I've heard of so many different problems with
EDIMAX products (mainly wireless routers) from friends and
acquaintances and suffered from some myself (a wireless router that
works fine for some hours, sometimes a day, and then becomes
unaccessible - with or without wires - in such a way that only a
powercycle helps, until it cracks again, with no chance to convince
anyone that something is wrong because when turned on it works
perfectly well) that I swore I would never buy anything made by them.
