Hey everyone - first, a disclaimer - Evolution pays my Salary :)

There are two job openings (I invented their titles in english):

   - *Senior Linux SysAdmin and Hosting Solutions Specialist *

The ideal candidate for this position:

   - Is proficient in all the major distros.
      - Has proven experience in hosting of high traffic websites
      - Has experience in a variety of web servers (apache, lighttpd, nginx,
      tomcat, etc.)
      - Is familiar with various hosting control panel applications (cpanel,
      plesk, h-sphere etc.)
      - Knows their way around all the necessary technologies - including
      implementing and troubleshooting:
         - DNS (bind, powerdns)
         - Mail Servers (qmail, postfix, exim etc.)
         - Firewalls (major vendor appliances as well as iptables and
         friends)
         - Networking (major vendor switchs, routers and LBs as well as LVS
         etc.)
         - Networknig troubleshooting (can deal with wireshark/tcpdumps when
         needed)
         - Monitoring (SNMP, monit, munin, etc.)
         - Statistics (Webalizer, AWStats etc.)
         - Hardware (Identifying server issues, lm_sensors etc.)
         - Storage (LVM, proprietry systems - NetApp, EMC etc.)
      - Is not afraid of buzzwords such as: Scalability, High Availability,
      Redundancy, Cost Efficiency
      - Has extensive knowledge of RMDBs (Preferably MySQL and PostgreSQL) -
doesn't have to be DBA level, but should be able to troubleshoot
all major
malfunctions as well as basic performance issues.
      - Is familiar with all popular virtual machine platforms -
      specifically the VMware ESX suite
      - Is a highly organized individual, able to manage their own schedules
      and deadlines.
      - Is aware of the importance of a well-documented system and is
capable of implementing one (in Hebrew and in English).
      - Sripting / Programming: Does not need enterprise level application
experience, however should have good working knowledge (that is to say -
more than basic is definitely a requirement) of bash, PHP, perl
and python.
      - Is capable of taking part in an on-call duty rotation (for after
      hours system support).

   - *Junior Linux SysAdmin and Technical Support Representative*

Basically all of the above but to a lesser extent (i.e. if the Senior
SysAdmin candidate would like require 8/10 of the skillset above and would
score around 85/100 in each of these skills, the Junior SysAdmin could
probably do with 5 or 6/10 and have a 70% score in each)

In addition, as a Tech Support Rep., the ideal candidate for this position
is pleasant and patient, and is willing to assist people with any possible
hosting related issue, even if the issue's cause is PEBKAC.

About Evolution Online:
Evolution has been around for quite a few years, leading the local web
hosting and server management arena with a variety of solutions and a proven
track record of clients with high volume web sites.
/end_obligatory_marketing_text :)

I am in my third year of employment, and till now it has been a great
learning experience, constantly exposed to a variety of technologies.
In addition, they are a select group of caring people who I am proud to call
my friends.

The jobs are in Tel Aviv - moving in two weeks to brand new facilities
located within 5 minutes walking distance from the HaShalom train station -
so if you are from out of town, shouldn't be too much of an issue (moving
there to ease the commute).

If you feel like a challenge and a rewarding experience - send your CV to
Idit, who is in charge of HR (idit at evolution.co.il).

You are also welcome to send it to Benny, the current Senior Linux SysAdmin
(benny at evolution.co.il)

Also feel to call me at 054-4255245 for any questions, or contact me at
tom at tomgoren.com (if you want me to answer faster than at
tom at evolution.co.il).

Thanks and Good Luck!

Tom Goren.
