Please note that a 'nc' (non-commercial) license is generally not compatible
with most other FOSS licenses (which allow use for any purpose, including
commercial). This usually prevent inclusion in official repositories of
linux distributions.
I think before asking favours from the author, you may want to check
what is needed for the fonts to be bundled with Linux distributions.

Also, Culmus project may also be used as a good example to licensing
decisions and the impact they have -- Culmus is bundled by any Linux
distribution on the planet... another oportunity to thank
