Problems with Mako VOD on Linux

Using FF, I see a link 'click to view directly' on their web site instead of the player, and then VLC 
opens automatically (working out of the box, no commercials too!). I like to grab the link from 
VLC and rip it using mmsrip, to prevent network problems while viewing, but it works online too.
