We use clickatell (for Australia, our US ops guys use the free incoming
email-to-sms from their mobile provider as you describe). I see that they
cover Israel for $US0.05 per SMS and their gateway "accepts SMTP" among
other options (HTTP/S <http://www.clickatell.com/developers/api_http.php>,
SMPP <http://www.clickatell.com/developers/api_smpp.php>,
SMTP<http://www.clickatell.com/developers/api_smtp.php>,
FTP <http://www.clickatell.com/developers/api_ftp.php>,
XML<http://www.clickatell.com/developers/api_xml.php>,
SOAP <http://www.clickatell.com/developers/api_soap.php>).

We use their Ruby class which seems to use the HTTP method.
