New router/modem

I need some advice regarding a new router modem. My old Linksys WRT54G
finally died on me, so I need to get a new router and I thought to replace
it with a combined router/modem. I looked on the cheapo Edimax ar-7186WnA
and on paper it seems to support almost everything I need. Things lacking
seem to be selectable DDNS server, different input and output ports for
portforwarding, but I realize that my always turned on raspberry pi 2 can
fill in for what is missing. Of course I am also giving up the ability to
put replacement firmware on the router, but in any case I was never doing
anything "interesting" with it, and again if I need some fancy stuff, I
guess that the raspberry can do it. I am currently using the "old" ADSL
connection, as I have not yet updated to NGN, but if I understand things
correctly the 7186 supports Annex M needed for NGN, so I can always update.
Did I miss something? Does someone have any experience with this
modem/router or can you recommend something else?
Thanks in advance!
Dov
