ifdown/ifup and friends

Turns out not to be so simple, as the VMs come from OVFs and no NIC
options (save for e1000 defined in the OVF) are available.

I have a workaround, and I will try to create/install a from-scratch VM
in my copious free time. Meanwhile, if anyone has a VMware VM lying
around and can try ifconfig/ifdown/ifup/ip link etc. with different
virtual NICs it will be highly appreciated.
