The VR600 seems to have the Broadcom chips, like the 9970/9977.

I think that if I were to buy a router for use in bridged mode, this would
be overkill as it has lots of fancy stuff that I would pay for and
wouldn't use. But this does seem to be another vote for TP Link's
Broadcom chip devices.
