[RBS] they WANT us, they want YOU TOO!!

Last night, we went out as "sayeret horim" again

we were greeted by lots of teenagers, hanging out at the park, some
having fun  just hanging out, some bored out of their minds

one  by one, or in pairs, they asked us if we are the police, or the
vaad horim, or what.
when we told them that all we are is a few parents who live here, who
want to keep an eye on them, and listen to them if they have somethign
to say - in other words, we are just extending our parenting skills
to them
their response was "great" , "katlani" (the latest expression for
"awesome") ,"we need you", "we want you", "please come more", "don't
leave"

when they moved from one park to another, they asked us to go with them
when two girls needed the bathroom, i took them to my house.

they see that we are human
they like us
and they want us

NOW, WE ASK YOU , PLEASE JOIN US

one night a month, please  give our  teenagers two-three hour of your time
all you have to do is hang out with them,  ask how they are doing, and
listen without judging  (more details if you are interested)

you can tell them what you did when you were a kid, teach some a card
game, bring popcorn...
(we shocked them when we told them how computers used to boot up with
two diskettes)

they behave better when we are around, which keeps them and our
neighbourhood safe
and if any of them needs a caring ear, we are there for them

there is a training course for volunteers, but even without the
course, one can learn the basic skills and do a lot of good
