We don't usually get involved in this sort of thing, but we felt this one warranted an exception...

There is someone who has been coming to us collecting tzedakah. Welooked into it, we asked Rabbonim and he is straight and ehrlich. He isa talmid chochom whose wife had gotten very sick for 2 years leavinghim with debts from the medical bills that he now deals with everymonth in addition to supporting his family of eight. He has gone to the kupah in the kiryah, where he lives, but while they are giving to him, the kupah itself doesn't have close to enough to make a dent. He runs around to loan gemachs as well, but each can only give him about a couple hundred shekels which also don't do much towards his astronomical debts from the medical bills. His wife, who issomewhat better now, works as a cashier, but the debts have kept himrunning around collecting just enough (and at times not enough) tocover basic staples, and still pay off the debts. He has had hiselectricity and water turned off, since after paying the debts and evengoing around collecting for basic staples, he often doesn't haveanything left for utilities - it goes without saying there's nothingfor "extras" like coats, shoes, or clothing. He is hoping to be donewith the debts in ten months (September 2010) and return to normallife, though in the meantime he is in desperate need of monthly help.Right now helping with basic food supplies would take an enormousweight off of his shoulders. Below is a list of his expenses for atypical month, if anyone can help with either the supplies or tocontribute money for these items or other expenses, it would be atremendous help.

monthly expenses:

milk 250 NIS
bread 200 NIS
eggs 180 NIS
oil 84 NIS
carton of chickens for a month 250 NIS
fish 100 NIS
diapers 150 NIS
baby formula 200 NIS
grape juice 100 NIS
any other basic groceries that people can contribute: Flour, sugar, etc.

In addition the "big ticket" expenses are:
The debt of $45,000 (down from $100,000) which he has been paying off,and which he is paying in installments to be completed by September 2010
Rent 2300 NIS
Arnona & Taxes 1200 NIS
School for older 5 kids 540 NIS after discount
Transportation for all the kids 540 NIS
Mishpachton for the youngest child 520 NIS

one time needs;
a womens' shabbos robe 300 (His wife's current one is worn & ripped and he can't even dream of buying her a new one!)
a man's black hat - shabbos or weekday -(even used) size 54

If several people could take on seeing him through these 9-10 months(or even one month) on ONE of these items (or even a portion, i.e. onepackage of the cheapest diapers for the month), it would add up tohelping him get almost all his basic groceries, and their income couldfinish off debts, rent, utilities - and you'd be helping give a familytheir life back!
