When posting that you are looking for a ride to a simcha, it is preferable
to post in this format:

"Looking for a ride to (fill in the blank) hall on Tues night" (Specify the
hall and not the family who is making the simcha)

Why?

When someone posts to the list that they are looking for a ride to a bar/bat
mitzvah or wedding and they write the name of the family (the ba'ale simcha)
on the list - For example -' Looking for ride to Levy bar mitzvah on
Tuesday night'
there are a few major problems with this posting.

1) The family hosting the simcha does not want everyone who reads the list
to know they are making a simcha as they can not invite everyone and it
might inadvertently insult someone who was not invited.

2) There have been many instances where the ba'ale simcha are burglarized
the night of the simcha as invitations are distributed and anyone who sees
the invitation can find out who is making a simcha and know that they will
be out for the entire night.

When posting for a ride, you are, in essence, informing everyone on the list
that a specific family is making a simcha and will not be home that evening.

The best way to post is to write'
"Looking for a ride to ________ hall on Tues night"

Specify the hall and not the family who is making the simcha.

May we BE''H be zocheh to celebrate many smachot throughout Klal Yisrael!

Riki
