... I just wanted to publicly thank the police for "cracking" down on the use of fire crackers this year.

At least to my ear, there were much fewer fire crackers leading up to Purim and on Purim itself (though the rain definitely helped for the latter).  I also reported a number of cases of illegal fire crackers use - which the police followed up on.
