We will walk from Jaffa Gate into the old city and see the 4 Quarters 
Rooftops of the Arab shuk  
We will relate to Sites from Second Temple Period and modern History  
The Burnt House- Home of a famous family of Cohanim from the times of the Second 
Temple that was burned...
The Herodian Quarter- The site contains excavations and restorations of many 
Upper City dwellings from the time of the Second Temple . Those where the homes 
of the Cohanim during this time. 

Time off for lunch in the Jewish Quarter. 
Cardo- Cardo Maximus - the main street of the Roman Byzantine Jerusalem.
5:00 pm return to Bet Shemesh  200 NIS 
  
2 Monday November 29 On the way to Jerusalem at 1948 with a twist towards 
Hanukah  

 
 
9:00 am Starting in Bet Shemesh
5:00 pm ending at Bet Shemesh    We will stop at various historical sights 
leading towards Jerusalem and hear about them as we travel our way to the holy 
city.   

Burma Roada road constructed  during the war of independence in order to bypass 
the Jerusalem Tel Aviv road that was in Arab control.
Sha’ar HaGay  During the1948 war this area saw fierce fighting between arabs and 
Jewish convoys on the way to blockaded Jerusalem . On April 20, the Arabs 
recaptured the heights around Sha'ar HaGai, closing the Tel Aviv road. The 
Palmach brigade managed to capture the area, but the rest of the Jerusalem road 
remained under Arab control., 

Radar Hillalso known as Har Adar was a British military installation. That 
booked the Jerusalem road and was captured in the six day war by the armored 
brigade, called Harel,  We will see the monument for the fallen soldiers of the 
brigade stands at the top of the hill.
Kastel along the rode to Jerusalem sat a straitjacket spot we will hear the 
fibulas story of this place
We will end our day with prayer for peace atKever shmuel Hanavi 200 NIS 
The trips are not suitable for children.
