A reminder to the Community:
Kehillat Ahavas Tzion and Melabev are proud to sponsor an “Evening of
Remembrance”.
Mrs. Livia Shacter, a 93 year old holocaust survivor who recently made
aliyah, will speak about her Shoah experience.
Prior to her making Aliyah, Mrs. Shacter was a regular speaker at the Simon
Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles.
In addition, she has spoken at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. and
to large audiences at
universities, high schools, government agencies and at a military base
with an audience of
47,000 United States Marines.
Mrs. Shacter also appears in the Academy Award winning documentary, “The
Long Way Home”. This is a
compelling documentation of the time period from 1945 – 1948. It depicts
the struggle of the survivors
after liberation and the birth of the State of Israel. It is a must see for
anyone who has made aliyah.
After Mrs. Shacter speaks, we will be screening that documentary.
