יוסף ואחיו – בפשט, במדרש, בספרות, בשירה ובאמנות
 ד"ר אביגיל רוק
במסגרת קורס זה נלמד את פרקי בראשית העוסקים במערכות היחסים בין בני
יעקב. סיפורי יוסף ואחיו מציבים אתגרים רעיוניים ופרשניים לא מעטים בפני
הלומד. אנו נלמד ביסודיות את פשטי הכתובים, את דרשות חז"ל, את הפרשנות
הקלאסית ופרשנות השירה המודרנית לסיפורי יוסף ואחיו, כדי לקבל פרספקטיבה
רחבה ומעמיקה למשמעות סיפורי יוסף ואחיו. כמו כן קורס זה יקנה מיומנויות
לימוד פשט ופרשנות.

Women in History- Women in Halacha:
The interaction between women and Jewish law throughout the ages
Michelle Lewis
In this exciting course we will take a sweeping look at women in
Halacha throughout history. Areas we cover will include: Women’s place
in a patriarchal religion; how Halacha differs for women; the
influence of women upon the evolution of halacha; and how influential
characters such as Sara Imeinu, Devorah, Beruriah and Glukel dealt
with these halachic issues. We will also focus upon the complex and
controversial topic of “Women and Talmud Torah”, examining its
historical development through textual sources.

Eliyahu and Elisha – Leadership Models in Tanach
Instructor: Dr. Avigail Rock

In this course, we will study the texts relating to the time period of
Eliyahu and Elisha in Melachim. We will focus on the uniqueness of
each of these prophets, and attempt to understand their prophetic
message through pshat and through the eyes of the midrash, and
medieval and modern commentary.

Thursday 10:20 – 11:20
Parashat HaShavua – Focus on Rashi
Instructor: Michelle Lewis
In this course we will take a broad look at the sedra to understand
central themes, and also home in on specific details within the text.
We will then delve into Rashi’s interpretation of the text, while
studying and analyzing his methods. The aim of this course is to
deepen Torah understanding and provide material for a weekly
dvar-Torah.
