                                .
This is the story of how a happy-go-lucky Grasshopper learned a valuable
lesson.
One day, at the offices of "Work and Fun" in Jerusalem, a
Grasshopper was watching a movie and eating popcorn. On the other side of
the office an Ant was working hard at his PC.
"Why on earth are you wasting your time at that computer?” said the
Grasshopper. “Come over here and watch this movie with me. What are you
doing, anyway?”
"I’m backing up all my data," said the Ant, "in case my hard drive
fails. I’d recommend you to do the same."
"Absolutely no need," said the Grasshopper. “Our computers are
brand new. They’re working perfectly. Modern computers just don’t fail."
        “Really?” said the Ant.
Just to check, he called *Smart Fox Solutions* to get some advice
on the matter.
"If you dig for me a nice foxhole" said master Fox, "I'll give you
five tips."
The Ant readily agreed, and the Fox said:
"First, all hard drives fail eventually. Second: always keep your
data in at least two separate places. Three: if you don't have a lot of
files, you can use the Dropbox system; it’s free. Four: choose an
automatic backup solution since you are likely to forget to do it
yourself. And last: on-site backup is cheaper for backing up a lot of
data; cloud backup is best for backing up stuff like documents and work
files."
So the Ant immediately contacted *Eagle Cloud Services* and
arranged for copies of his documents and files to be kept in the clouds.
Then he went to *Whales Inc. - Tons of Space* and got them to set up
automatic backup of the rest.
Five months later the Ant’s hard drive failed. The Grasshopper
laughed and laughed.
"Maybe your hard drive failed because it was too backed up" he said.
The Ant had to restore all his data from Backup. But it was all
there, and he was up and running in less than a day.
Two years passed. Then one day the Grasshopper’s hard drive
failed. With no backup of any sort in place, he lost every last bit of his
data. Disaster! He spent weeks and weeks trying to get his system back in
place, but many of his valuable files were lost for ever.
And that’s how the Grasshopper learned that It’s best to have your
data backed up.
