i have this theory that we have so many children with special needs to
remind us that parenting is a full time job, no matter how efficient or
impersonal life has become

the only way to teach our children is to spend real time with them - nto
taking them on trips, but being around when they are around.

today i stopped some very fine  children from very fine (English-speaking,
asheknazi) homes shoot darts at a cat.

the kippot on their heads and the amount of gemara they learn at school is
irrelevant

we need to always be around, to sneak a peak at what our kids are doing, to
cross the street a teh crosswalk with them, to hear them out, to make sure
they are wearing their bike helmets correctly, so that we can teach them
what it really means to be a jew
