friends, romans, country men - oh wait, that was a different speech

many of my closest friends have told me that they are planning to vote in
the elections, but don't see nay need to "get involved" or "do time" before.

but the truth is, if we really care, we need to make sure these elections
make a change in the city of Beit Shemesh.

Broken sidewalks aren't just annoying, they are a hazard.

Ignoring the Olim from Ethiopia has caused an entire population of people
who never heard of crime in their old country to get a reputation for being
violent, criminal, etc.

Giving in to "religious extremists" has given Beit Shemesh as a city and
religious Jews as a community a bad name, and has created a lot of
unnecessary hatred between neighbours.

Advertising "free discounts" on arnona has brought the city's budget to
record-setting deficits - even with all the new shopping centres,
attracting non-tax-paying residents and not creating any infrastructure for
education or industry has cost the city more that the new shops can
possibly bring in
And the general atmosphere has chased away many , many families how lived
here already or were planning to make Aliya to here.

if we want to change this situation
- whether for our own personal benefit, or in order to turn things around
for the Russian, and Ethiopian Olim, or the elderly residents who came to
Beit Shemesh when it was a tent-camp and deserve some municipal services
already -
we have to work, and work hard.

We have to help people get out and vote, especially those Beit Shemesh
old-timers how feel that they have tried voting so many times and seen
nothing come from it.
We need to ensure that the votes are recorded properly and tat "dead
people" don't come to vote (which seems to happen a lot in certain cities
in Israel)
We need to provide rides for those who have no way to get to their ballots

And, if we are not yet convinced that our new candidate IS a quality
person, then we need to get to know him , and the people on his list for
city council, so that we can feel as optimistic a we need in order to do
this properly.

Please contact me in order to volunteer and / or in order to hear about
parlour meetings at which you can meet our New Mayor (BEH).
