Hi
I have a sattellite dish, and receive channels with arabic subtitles. some
of the movies are in english so i can understand, but some are in other
languages (e.g. indian) so i cant.
as not all people here speak fluent english or read arabic, I want to add a
hebrew subtitles.
The idea is to sample the movie around every second, use an arabic ocr, and
babelfish or google translate, to translate to hebrew
i know the translation is not always very good, but i though i give it a try
so i need:
1. An OCR software for arabic (for linux of course)
prefferebly which can handle a picture in the background
2. a translation software between arabic and hebrew. or at least api to
access google translate or babelfish
3. a way to display the subtitles. this is easy, just create a simple X app
and raise it above the movie player
btw, as mythtv can record to disk, it will also be ok to work offline (but i
prefer to translate in real time).
Thanks
erez.
