Fedora upgrade, got unbootable system

I need help with how to restore my home system. Preferably without doing a
clean install.

I did a preupdate from Fedora 15 to Fedora 16 and now have a system that
only boots into rescue mode after a long timeout. The last messages before
I get the rescue prompt are:

Failed to start Arbitrary Executable File Formats File System
Started Initialize storage subsystems (RAID, LVM, etc) [OK]
Dependency failed. Aborted start of /space1
Dependency failed. Aborted start of Relabel all file...s, if necessary
Dependency failed: Aberted start of Mrak the need to ...el after reboot
Dependency failed. Aborted start of /home
Dependency failed. Aborted statrr of File System Check...8c-e1f...
Dependency failed. Aborted start o/ boot
:
Welcome to emeregency mode.
Give root password for maintenance.

What can I do in emergency mode to investigate what went wrong and
hopefully restore the system?

Thanks in advance!
Dov
